Key Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical systems including HVAC, heating, cooling, air/water distribution, ventilation, air conditioning, and building automation
  • Perform system and load calculations, and limited energy modeling
  • Select mechanical equipment for building systems
  • Incorporate sustainable design strategies
  • Prepare mechanical contract drawings, reports, and technical specifications
  • Coordinate designs with architects and other engineers
  • Attend client meetings to establish requirements and discuss design issues
  • Coordinate with plumbing, fire protection, electrical, and fire alarm trades
  • Manage small projects or technical scopes while monitoring quality and client expectations

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 5 years on commercial or institutional building projects
  • 5+ years HVAC system design experience
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit
  • EIT preferred
  • Strong knowledge of NYC and national building codes
  • Familiarity with FGI Guidelines for Healthcare Facilities
  • Prior healthcare project experience highly desirable
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
