Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage design initiatives for plumbing & fire protection systems as the team's Professional Engineer, supervising a team of design professionals
• Oversee all project functions — surveys, calculations, equipment selection, and layouts — across every project phase
• Serve as a lead point of communication with peers, supervisors, vendors, consultants, clients, and stakeholders
• Support construction administration, including shop drawing review, field observations, and report preparation
• Assume the Job Captain function, coordinating project deliverables and quality control with the project team
• Independently design complex plumbing & fire protection systems using company standards and templates, with minimal supervision
• Develop intricate designs and layouts and select advanced equipment
• Generate specifications based on company standard templates
• Produce existing-conditions surveys and due-diligence reports, including cost estimates
• Mentor and educate junior-level engineers on the team

Key Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required
• Minimum 6 years of experience as a Designer, including at least 2 years in a Senior Designer role, on a professional engineering project team under the direct or indirect supervision of a licensed professional engineer
• Minimum 2 years of experience leading engineering projects of various sizes and complexities
• Minimum 2 years of experience leading engineering teams of various sizes
• 4-year Engineering degree
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word
• Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Highly organized, composed under pressure, and able to manage strict timelines across multiple projects in a high-pressure environment
