Lead Plumbing & Fire Protection Designer

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior member and manager of the project team, working under the direct supervision of the Trade Design Manager (or Senior Engineer) to lead and manage project teams and design initiatives
• Supervise a team of design professionals to complete high-quality trade-specific schematics and layouts based on solid design principles
• Manage all design team project functions, including surveys, calculations, selections, and layouts, across all project phases
• Play a lead role in effectively communicating with peers, supervisors, vendors, consultants, clients, and stakeholders
• Provide leadership support in the construction administration process, including processing and reviewing shop drawings, performing field observations, and preparing reports
• Fully capable of assuming the Job Captain function, including ownership of project deliverable coordination, quality control, and documentation accuracy
• Directly manage the training, development, and project execution of direct-report project team members

Key Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of experience as a Designer, including at least 2 years in a Senior Designer role, on a professional engineering project team under the direct or indirect supervision of a licensed professional engineer
• Minimum 2 years of experience leading engineering projects of various sizes and complexities
• 4-year Engineering degree
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Proven project management ability, with demonstrated experience managing direct reports against strict deadlines across multiple projects in a high-pressure environment
• Highly organized, composed under pressure, and possesses a keen eye for detail
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT
