Key Responsibilities

  • Assume a leadership role for mechanical system design on assigned projects, coordinating and directing mechanical design tasks across the project team
  • Guide, mentor, and develop junior engineers on project teams
  • Assist with internal quality review, building and construction code analysis, and development of design criteria
  • Contribute to development of office standards, policies, and procedures
  • Adhere to established project goals and objectives, including schedule and budget
  • Prepare complete mechanical engineering design scope reports, calculations, sizing, layouts, drawings, and specifications for building systems serving education, public housing, healthcare, higher education, and transportation facilities
  • Conceptualize initial design concepts and develop comprehensive mechanical system designs
  • Conduct site and condition surveys and prepare related engineering documentation as required
  • Coordinate with architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, clients, and others
  • Attend client meetings for design review, construction phase coordination, and other project needs
  • Provide engineering follow-up and supervision during the project construction phase

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years of HVAC and building mechanical systems design experience, including drawings and specifications for large commercial, institutional, and residential projects
  • Strong technical knowledge of simple and complex HVAC systems
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; REVIT experience required
  • Experience providing engineering services during the project construction phase
  • Knowledge of New York and New Jersey building and construction codes and standards
  • PE and/or LEED AP credential preferred
