Key Responsibilities

  • Develop HVAC system designs for corporate offices, data centers, laboratories, pharmaceutical, educational, and hospitality facilities
  • Perform load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork, piping, and air distribution system layouts using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Carrier HAP, and TRACE 700
  • Collaborate closely with electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and architectural teams to ensure integrated system designs
  • Prepare design narratives, technical specifications, cost estimates, and detailed construction documents
  • Review contractor submittals, respond to RFIs, and conduct site visits to ensure compliance and quality control during construction
  • Apply sustainable design principles, including energy modeling and adherence to LEED, WELL, and other green building standards
  • Ensure compliance with NYC MEA guidelines, ASHRAE standards, and local, state, and national codes
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and internal project teams throughout all project phases
  • Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5 to 12 years of progressive HVAC design and engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or working toward licensure
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Carrier HAP, TRACE 700, or similar HVAC design software
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC equipment, control systems, and energy-efficient design practices
  • Familiarity with NYC Building Code, ASHRAE standards, and sustainable design certifications
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams and multi-office collaborative environments
