Senior Highway/Civil Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review highway and roadway design plans, engineering estimates, technical specifications, and construction details.
• Develop conceptual and final engineering documents including horizontal and vertical roadway alignments.
• Design roadway geometry, site grading, drainage systems, utilities, construction staging, traffic signals, pavement markings, and signage.
• Assist Project Managers with day-to-day project coordination and technical execution.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
• Ensure design compliance with applicable agency standards and project requirements.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering preferred.
• Active New York Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
• 8 to 12 years of highway, roadway, and transportation engineering experience.
• Strong experience designing projects for agencies such as NYSDOT, NYCDOT, NYCDDC, NYCT, TBTA, or similar public agencies.
• Thorough understanding of highway engineering, roadway design, grading, drainage, utility coordination, stormwater management, and Maintenance & Protection of Traffic (MPT).
• Working knowledge of FHWA MUTCD, AASHTO, New York State DOT, and New York City DOT design standards.
• Proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads required.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and technical problem-solving skills.
• Clean driving record required.

• Stormwater management and watershed analysis.
