Key Responsibilities

  • Manage mechanical design teams to meet project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Lead the design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems per client and code requirements
  • Serve as Engineer of Record, signing/sealing drawings where applicable
  • Conduct load calculations and energy modeling using eQUEST, Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, and ENERGY STAR tools
  • Ensure QA/QC standards are met through project reviews and compliance checks
  • Prepare specifications, design documents, and calculations for mechanical/HVAC systems
  • Direct and mentor junior engineers and draftspersons, ensuring technical quality
  • Conduct site surveys, attend pre-bid meetings, and provide construction administration support
  • Collaborate with clients, project managers, and other design disciplines to deliver integrated solutions
  • Contribute to proposal development, client management, and business growth efforts

Key Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering (required); MBA or accredited certifications preferred
  • PE license preferred (strongly desired for senior-level leadership)
  • 15+ years of progressive engineering and managerial experience in large, multi-faceted projects
  • Expertise in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and sustainable/energy-efficient design
  • Proficiency with load analysis and energy modeling tools (eQUEST, Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and national codes, plus USGBC LEED standards (preferred)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; Revit experience a plus
  • Strong business acumen, financial management skills, and client management ability
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and presentation skills
